The house
Built long before anyone was in a hurry
The pavilions are reclaimed Javanese Joglos — teak structures carved a century ago, taken down beam by beam, and raised again here around a pool and a garden.
Four bedrooms
Each one its own weather
Two rooms look at the pool, two into the green. Canopy nets, good cotton, hand-painted panels, and air-conditioning that actually means it. No two rooms match, which is rather the point.
Four baths
Stone, water, light
Every bedroom has its own bathroom in carved river stone — open to the sky in places, warm underfoot everywhere. Showers you remember after you fly home.
The table
Dinner happens here
A full kitchen for the cooks among you, and a long table by the water for everyone else. Ask a day ahead and a private chef shops the morning market and cooks in — Indonesian, or whatever you’re homesick for.
After dark
Evenings under the beams
Lamplight on hundred-year-old timber. Someone finds the record player. The pond keeps its own hours.

Kept daily
The people who come with the house
Four staff keep Villa Aniri — housekeeping every morning, the gardener at first light, security through the night, and a villa attendant who has an answer for nearly everything: drivers, reservations, a surfboard by nine, a birthday cake by four. In-villa massage and a yoga teacher on the deck are a day’s notice away.
They’ve kept this house for years. You’ll notice it in the folded corners of things, and in how rarely you have to ask twice.
