From the airport to the villa
Bali’s international airport is in the south of the island, which is the good news: Seminyak is one of the closest places to stay. The rest is a question of who is waiting for you when the doors open.
The airport itself
You land at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport — everyone calls it DPS, after its airport code — south of Seminyak, past Kuta. International and domestic terminals sit side by side.
The arrivals hall is busy and confident. You will be offered a taxi, a transfer and a SIM card before you have found the exit. None of that is a problem; it is just easier if you already know where you are going.
The simple answer: let us send a driver
Tell us your flight number when you book and the villa attendant arranges a driver who is standing in arrivals with your name on a board. They know the lane, they know the gate, and they will not need directions to a villa that does not show up neatly on a map.
At one in the morning with three suitcases and a sleeping child, this is not a luxury. It is the difference between an arrival and an ordeal.
The alternatives, fairly
The official airport taxi counters work perfectly well, and so do pre-booked transfer companies. Ride-hailing apps operate in Bali, but pick-up arrangements at the airport and in some neighbourhoods are governed by local agreements that change — do not build your arrival around a screenshot from an old blog post.
All roads lead to the same villa. The variable is not the vehicle, it is whether someone is waiting.
How long it takes
Our own figure, and the one on the villa page, is thirty to forty-five minutes by car. Treat it as an average rather than a promise: Bali measures distance in time, and traffic decides. A midnight landing is quick. A five o’clock landing on a Friday is not.
This is worth knowing for the return leg too. When you leave, the driver will suggest a departure time that feels absurdly early. Take their advice over your own arithmetic.
Arriving early, leaving late
Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 11:00. If the house is free the night before, an earlier check-in is usually possible — ask, and you will get an honest answer rather than a hopeful one. The same goes for a late check-out on a night flight.
Before you fly: the paperwork
Entry requirements for Indonesia — visas, arrival declarations, anything payable on landing — change, and they change without asking us. Check the official Indonesian government sources close to your travel date and again a few days before you go. We are villa hosts, not immigration advisers, and we will not guess on this page about something that could cost you a flight.
Money, phones and the first hour
Prices in Indonesia are quoted in rupiah, written with dots where you might expect commas: our from-rate, IDR 6.831.000, is six million eight hundred and thirty-one thousand rupiah. It takes about a day to stop counting the zeros.
Cards are widely accepted in Seminyak; small warungs, market stalls and roadside drivers are cash. A local SIM or an eSIM is worth arranging so that maps and WhatsApp work from the moment you land — WhatsApp is how Bali communicates, and it is how you will reach us.
Questions people ask
Straight answers
How far is Villa Aniri from Bali airport?
Thirty to forty-five minutes by car in normal conditions. Traffic in south Bali is the variable, so allow more at peak hours and for the journey back to a flight.
Can you arrange an airport pickup?
Yes. Send your flight number with your booking and a driver meets you in arrivals with your name. Whether it is included or charged is stated on your quote.
What time is check-in?
Check-in is 14:00 and check-out is 11:00. If the villa is empty the night before, an earlier check-in is often possible — ask and we will tell you either way.
Do I need cash when I arrive?
Some. Cards work in most Seminyak restaurants and shops, but warungs, markets and small drivers are cash. There are ATMs everywhere in Seminyak, so you do not need to arrive loaded.
Do I need a visa for Bali?
Requirements depend on your nationality and they change. Check the official Indonesian government sources shortly before you travel — we deliberately do not publish visa rules here, because a stale answer on this subject is worse than none.
